Napkin Folds

Napkins, Napkins, Napkins!

You need them for every meal that you enjoy, and that includes your wedding day celebrations.

For couples who are renting linens for their special day, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the variety of napkin options offered. Colors, textures, and how to place them on your guest tables. If you’re partnering up with The Wedding Linen Company, they have a fantastic showroom in Aiea where you can explore different linen options and how they pair well with other textures and colors.

When you dine in at a restaurant, the napkin is already folded and placed at each diner’s seat. This goes for your wedding as well. But, for weddings and special events, your napkin can go further and be your splash of color to tie in your wedding vision or the finishing touch to pull your place setting together. Below are sample napkin folds for you to review and decide on which works best for you and your wedding. Not all napkins are made the same and some are better suited for outdoor weddings where the wind can be an additional element. (Napkins flying off tables are never fun for us to deal with!).

All of these images were provided to us by our friends over at The Wedding Linen Company. Malia and Oscar are the owners and we are proud to support a local company that serves countless couples throughout the year!

We love you TWLC Team! 🫶🏻

Now, on to the napkin folds…

Standard Pocket Fold

The Standard Pocket Fold is one of our favorite pocket folds due to its versatile nature. It can be laid flat at your place setting with a place card or favor on top, and/or a menu tucked in. Hint: It’s also easier for our team to refold if it comes undone.

The Knot

The Knot is dreamy, delicate, and pairs beautifully with a menu or program centered at your place setting. This is one of our favorite napkin folds for outdoor weddings. There’s something about the organic twist in the knot and flared edges that’s so chic!

Double Double Fold

The Double Double Fold is elegant with its overhang off the edge of the table. We recommend this fold when placing a heavier favor or utensil setting on top for outdoor weddings. With natural island breeze, sometimes, the Double Double fold can catch wind and come off the tables. For indoor weddings, it’s spectacular!

Narrow Pocket Fold

The Narrow Pocket Fold is another favorite! It’s a little larger than the Standard Pocket Fold, and creates a nice polished vertical look to each place setting. If you have menus or programs that need to be tucked inside, please give us the dimensions so we can ensure the napkins are folded properly.

Low Narrow Pocket Fold

The Low Narrow Pocket Fold is very similar to the standard Narrow Pocket Fold but is “shorter”. This is a great napkin fold for a look that’s more polished, but the napkin isn’t the focal piece.

Tri Fold

The Tri Fold is a simple horizontal napkin fold that can be wrapped around your dinner plate place setting. It is elegant, clean, and will stay at each setting with the help of the dinner plate or charger to hold it down.

Tri Fold Pocket Wrap

The Tri Fold Pocket Wrap is a variation of the standard Tri Fold wrap with an added pocket to tuck in programs or menus. We recommend this wrap for outdoor weddings with stationary set at each place setting. It’s one of the “sturdiest” napkin folds.

Simple Flat Fold

The Simple Flat Fold has been a SL fan favorite since day 1 for our team. It’s clean, elegant, minimalist and pairs well with various place settings, favor ideas, and place cards. It’s ultra chic and understated all at once!

If you need help deciding on what to do with your place setting, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for a second opinion!
