Don’t Forget These!

As a wedding planner, one of the most common scenarios I see on wedding days is this: all the big things are accounted for — the venue is ready, the florals are gorgeous, the catering is on point — but a few small (yet important!) details are missing. A card box. The table numbers. The welcome sign. Sound familiar?

These are the kinds of items that often fall into the couple’s court to provide, and understandably so — they’re personal, decorative, and unique to each wedding. But with all the moving parts of planning, they can also be easy to overlook.

To help ensure your big day runs smoothly and nothing gets left behind, I’ve put together a thorough list of wedding-day decor and accessory items that couples are typically responsible for sourcing themselves. Think of it as your go-to shopping list or checklist — one less thing to stress about as the day approaches!

Wedding Decor & Personal Touches to Prepare Ahead of Time

1. Welcome Sign

  • Why it matters: It’s the first thing your guests see and sets the tone for your celebration.

  • Tip: Include names, date, and ceremony location if the venue has multiple areas.

2. Seating Chart or Escort Cards

  • Why it matters: Crucial for helping guests find their table quickly and comfortably.

  • Tip: If using a chart, make sure the names are alphabetized for easy navigation.
